Kirkwood Hospice

Kirkwood Hospice has been my lifeline over the last 18 months. I have listened, learned, cried (done so much crying), but Kirkwood remains the place I feel most at peace. - Julie, carer.

Kirkwood offers a variety of services to help and support individuals who care for someone living with a life limiting illness. Kirkwood doesn’t just support people living with cancer. Kirkwood is here to support you if you help someone living with any life limiting illness, such as: Dementia, Heart Failure, Cancer, COPD, Liver Disease and Neurological conditions.

The Share & Care Group

Share & Care is a three week course with sessions taking place on Fridays in the Meeting Space at Kirkwood Hospice between 10am – 12noon.

The sessions are designed for people who have become a carer and feel that they would like to access support and advice, develop new skills and learn how to cope more effectively. Carers also have the opportunity to share experiences with others and have access to a team of experienced healthcare professionals to answer any questions.

Carers Emotional & Peer Support Group

Carers are invited to the support group every Thursday from 10am – 11am in Kirkwood’s Family Care Centre.

The group is an opportunity to share experiences with other carers in a group environment.

Carers Retreat

Carers Retreat takes place on the first Wednesday of the month from 10am – 12noon in the Support & Therapy Lounge at Kirkwood Hospice.

The retreat gives carers the chance to relax and unwind with others, chat with others going through similar situations and access information and support.
